Odours in concrete
Concrete can be the worst substrate for holding odours. Being so porous it is an ideal breeding ground for odour producing bacteria. Urine penetrates deep into the honeycomb and before too long you have a strong odour building that becomes very stubborn to remove.
Odarid Clear Seal is designed for large areas where an easy to apply economical product is required to prevent urine from soaking into the substrate. This product is a light duty product and should be used only in areas such as paths, dog runs and so on. It is not a floor coating as such, only a concrete sealer. For a Epoxy Coating click here
Odarid Clear Seal is a waterborne modified acrylic sealer unique product designed specifically for sealing concrete substrates such as driveways, large dog runs and so on. Not recommended for areas that will have high foot traffic .

Historically sealers are solvent based and have a strong odour which can produce a nasty head ache and require a solvent based thinner for clean up.
Odarid Clear Seal washes out in water and has no odour.
It is also durable for outside once applied it bonds with the concrete to form a waterproof seal.
Clear seal is not resiliant to strong chemicals and should be cleaned only with disinfectants and detergents. It should be reapplied every year . Ideal and economical for large areas where heavy machinery and chemicals are not used.

We have found the best method for removing built up cat and dog pee from concrete is to treat the area first with a powerful, residual bacteriostat, then seal the surface to lock everything in. This also prevents more urine penetrating the surface. Once the surface is sealed it is just a case of a simple washdown with a Disinfectant Cleaner. For treatment of carpeted rooms on concrete floors that are affected by urine, lift the carpet and clean the concrete with Odarid Pet Stain and Odour remover and rinse clean with water. Leave to dry then seal with Odarid Clear Seal before putting the underlay and carpet back down.

Spreading Rate: 10-14 sqm/litre/coat depending on surface
profile. Odarid Clearseal should be applied in two coats allowing 4 hours cure time in between each coat..
Apply by brush or roller - a large soft brush or broom gives the best results. Material can be spray applied if required although brush application of the first coat is advisable. Airless spray application gives excellent spreading and penetration.
Recoat time: Minimum 4 hours between coats. Allowance for overnight dry time is preferable. Allow 24 hours after second coat before putting area into full service. System takes 3 days to cure
Clean Up: Water. Clean all gear immediately after use
as Clearseal dries quickly and may prove difficult to
remove from equipment.
Notes:
Clearseal is a single pack waterborne material, is non-flammable
and contains no mammalian-toxic substances. It requires no
special storage conditions other than protection from frost. We
recommend the use of barrier cream on exposed skin when
handling this material.
